Christmas 2007

November 30, 2007

I wanted to finish learning about Joshua before starting to think about Christmas. I usually do lessons about aspects of the birth of the Saviour. I shall do this but also want to teach them some of the names given to the Lord Jesus. I had an idea to make a Christmas card to send to a dear friend who has set up a children’s village in Zambia. I thought it would be great if the children could sign the card and make a card for the Sunday Schools he is helping to run too.

This is the idea, it’s meant to look like a Christmas tree.

Review of Joshua’s Life and Death

Joshua 24

Memory Verse

Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD!

Joshua 24 v 14

Summary of Joshua’s guidance to the Israelites, after this he took a large stone as stone of witness to the promises the israelites had made before God.

And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. Joshua 24 v 15

Break Over

Sunday School is held in school term time. Some children at Sunday School attend State schools some a local Christian school, others are educated at home. The Christian school usually has a longer holiday period so we tend to follow their term time.

My husband as I’ve mentioned takes the older age group young people. He’s away with his work right now so we have an experienced stand- in, my mother-in – law. She plans to teach about God’s word and has asked me to make a word search with some words relevant to her lesson.

My husband has all the info. on his computer but it’s password protected! AnywayI was able to find a few web sites that will generate word search grids. The word search is done minus a few word , the site I used couldn’t cope with more than 25 words. I made a bit of a faux pas in that I didn’t print the answer grid I’ll think have to do some homework!
